God spoke the universe and the earth into existence
Genesis 1-every paragraph starts with “God said” and then something appeared—God said let there be light, then sea, then land, then creatures, then he said, let us make man in our image.
God speaks and he speaks breath into everything. He breathes life into us when he speaks. His every word contains life. His word has creative power.
He speaks things into existence.
Here’s what the Bible says about God’s Word:
Hebrews 4:12 Amplified Bible (AMP)
12 For the word of God is living and active and full of power [making it operative, energizing, and effective]. It is sharper than any two-edged sword, penetrating as far as the division of the soul and spirit [the completeness of a person], and of both joints and marrow [the deepest parts of our nature], exposing and judging the very thoughts and intentions of the heart.
The word of God cuts us—it pokes our conscience, it performs surgery on our minds and hearts, cutting things out that hold us back. It prunes us, cuts out wrong thinking, harmful thoughts and attitudes. God’s word cuts out our cancerous thoughts, sins and attitudes that can spread throughout our whole body bringing about death. But God’s word always brings life—even life out of death.
